Last month, I had the pleasure of facilitating a workshop on Creative Rest and Wellbeing for the TD Incubator artist cohort at the Werklund Centre.
Together, we reflected on nervous system regulation, resilience, and embodied practices for maintaining well-being while navigating the demands of artistic work.
As the founder of The Deep Listening Path, an organization that offers deep listening and wellness support through workshops, author readings, and community-based arts programming, it was meaningful to bring together creativity, rest, and reflective practice in a conversation designed specifically for artists and changemakers in arts-based organizations and non-profits.
Mental Health and Wellness awareness is gaining increasing attention within artist development programs and arts leadership conversations.
I am grateful to the TD Incubator team, namely @Sanja and Joshua Dalledonne, for their pioneering programming in wellness and also for having me as a facilitator.
I was really impressed with the curiosity, openness, energy, and thoughtfulfulness within which the participants engaged with these practices.
It was great to be preceded by Alex Sarian, the CEO of The Werklund Centre, who shared with us the visionary project that is underway as the Centre becomes one of #Canada‘s most significant arts and cultural campuses, enhancing the #pride of #calgary and #alberta.
To see artist development programs creating space not only for creativity and professional growth, but also for well-being and #sustainability in artistic practice is truly encouraging!
The future of the arts depends not only on supporting artistic excellence but also on nurturing the well-being of the artists.
Thank you so much, Sara @GreyHillStudios Photography for taking these fantastic photos.
