How might we cultivate compassionate leadership in public and non-profit organizations to address the pressing challenges of our time?
Drawing on an arts-based model of deep listening integrated with systems thinking, Dr. Shumaila Hemani shares her collaborations with Alberta Ecotrust, including Deep Listening Circles hosted at CommunityWise Resource Centre and online, as well as her keynote performance and presentation at the Map the Systems Canada Finals at Bella Concert Hall, Mount Royal University.
Dr. Hemani is the former Artist in Residence at Trico Changemakers Studio (Mount Royal University), Futures/Forward at International Centre of Arts for Social Change, and Music to Life Academy’s Music Changemaker program.
Through deep listening, music, and participatory arts practices, The Deep Listening Path helps organizations deepen dialogue, foster connection, and imagine more compassionate and equitable pathways for systems change. We are now part of Action Dignity’s network of organizations in Calgary taking a systems change approach to addressing key social challenges.
